Louis, MO 3 years ago I had a stable job. I was supporting my family.

But I felt like something was missing. Not only did I loathe my job, but we had another kid on the way. And little did I know, trying to get a job delivering pizza was one of the hardest things I ever had to do! Why Was This So Hard?

I kept getting rejection after rejection--yes, from pizza delivery places! You can imagine how this felt. Was I really not good enough to even deliver one lousy pizza? Bruised ego aside, I still held on to my dream of making a little more money so that I could enjoy spending more time with my family, supporting them, and actually doing work that I enjoyed.

So because pizza places were throwing my resume out the window, this was the exact point in my life I started blogging and selling products and services online. I open it up.

I put my nose down and invested all of my energy into figuring the thing out. All those thousands of hours I could have been writing I spent on reading every Scrivener book, Now, I know what you may be thinking: And I did think of all the other things I could have been doing with my time instead of trying to master Scrivener When you start reading about people like him using it, you begin to see why they can make a living from writing.

In one of the comments he said something to a reader who was getting really frustrated with Scrivener no surprise there.

I highly recommend the Learn Scrivener Fast program! VERY well done and so worth it. If there was a better program, you would use it! This is going to help me push further ahead on my book project! So, why do you need Scrivener to write your book when you can just use Word? You don’t—amazing books will continue to be written without Scrivener just as they’ll continue to be written without Word (and plenty of writers still exist who prefer using a typewriter or writing longhand).

This is how I use Scrivener to outline my novels, using the approach I talk about in my book Outlining Your Novel: Map Your Way to Success. This post isn’t going to teach you how to use Scrivener, so it does presuppose you have some understanding of how the basic features work (e.g., the Binder and Inspector).

Seth Harwood, a novelist I admire, said, “I use Scrivener for writing my novels and a MacBook. I used to use Word, but literally I can’t imagine how I’d write a novel without Scrivener now There’s nothing that can match Scrivener’s chapter view for seeing where the book has gone and is going.”.
